Honorable Mention
Letters About Literature 2002
Level I

Dear Jim Kielgaard:

The book that you wrote called Snow Dog has changed my life in many ways. But I'm only going to mention the one that changed it the most. The most way Snow Dog changed my life is when the masked face puppy had to learn how to hunt, fight, and survive on its own. It made me think about how lucky I am to have a family that can teach many things and care for me when I'm sick or hurt. Also I'm grateful that I don't have to hunt and steal for my food, unlike the masked face puppy because he had to hunt and steal for his food. The masked face puppy had to face predators like the black wolf, bear, lynx, and many other animals. I remember that the masked face puppy found an owner (named Link) that was also his mother's owner. Link took care of the masked face puppy and named him Chiri. Chiri finally got revenge on the black wolf because he finally killed him. Thank you, Mr. Jim Kielgaard, for your book. I'm sure it changed many lives beside mine.

From,
Amber Rea
